Former Democratic congressman and disability rights icon, Tony Coelho, donated $1 million to help found the Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy & Innovation at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). Coelho was a primary sponsor of the first version of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and he is a LMU alum. The Coelho Center has hopes to create a pipeline of lawyers with disabilities among other worthy goals.
The Coelho Center opened on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, with a gala event and an inaugural symposium.
